Hillary's (and everyone else's) dual loyalty -- the road to catastrophe

On Feb 1, 2007, Hillary said to an AIPAC conference:

U.S. policy must be clear and unequivocal. We cannot, we should not, we must not, permit Iran to build or acquire nuclear weapons. And in dealing with this threat as I have said for a very long time, no option can be taken off the table.

One question her comments raise is: If it were more widely known that Hillary is effectively greasing the way for Bush's threatened attack on Iran, would they still support her at current levels. The same question applies to Edwards, Obama and the others.

The answer to this could be a clue to activists. The follow up question is: why aren't activists insisting that candidates make clear that attacking Iran is OFF the table? The answer could be that in all likelihood, activists are also in thrall to the principle of not doing anything that would divert a perceived Israeli agenda.

It's a schizophrenic situation. No one --outside of Bush Cheney, the neocon crazies and the New York money people -- wants an attack against Iran because of how destructive, destabilizing and irreversible it would be. Yet our entire political community seem to be paralyzed just as are our presidential candidates by some powerful force which is preventing them from effectively speaking out against Bush's very public and suicidal plans.

Is there anything that could more clearly reveal the malevolent effects of Zionist influence on the US polity?

Perhaps I should make clear here that, powerful as the Zionist lobby/media are, they are NOT responsible for the war on Iraq or the coming war against Iran. The Lobby didn't force Bill Clinton into such a war nor could they have forced Gore or Kerry. Here I part company from my (ideological) friends Walt and Mearshimer, James Petras and others who unaccountably miss or ignore the extraordinary barbarity, ruthlessness and pathology of Bush-Cheney (Rumsfeld) team.
911, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran could not, would not have been done without them.
They have truly turned our world into a nightmare. Just imagine what it means to be an Iraqi living in Baghdad today.

Ronald

PS. In a likely preview of things to come, we are now seeing some of the means the US is using to provoke hostilities against Iran; i.e, abducting, kidnapping, arresting Iranian diplomats. Such actions used to be considered acts of war. Such things are still considered acts of war.
